Het Umuofai-volk woont in Abia State in het zuidoosten van Nigeria. In 1996 maakten twee christen-broers, Emeka en Chinedu Nwankpa, zich zorgen over de geestelijke situatie van hun volk. Er waren maar weinig christenen onder de Umuofai, en er was een sterke binding met voorouderverering, toverij en afgoderij. De broers begonnen God te zoeken.
